Case Studies

This case study helps participants to organise time, work and personal activities in order to create a better work–life balance.

Checklists

Use this quick checklist to cover all the bases before taking leave.

Diagnostics

An exercise which encourages participants to identify the main causes of wasted time in the workplace and examine the impact they have on personal effectiveness. Allow one hours for completion.

This diagnostic provides participants with a simple visual reflection of how they are dividing their time and focus across four crucial areas of life. Allow 20 minutes for completion.

This is an individual diagnostic that will focus a team on time management. In responding to the questions the team will be able identify any time management problems. This will prompt them to subsequently identify particular time wasters and encourage them to formulate steps to address these issues. Allow around 40 minutes for completion.

Exercises

This exercise presents participants with a variety of tasks, decisions and interruptions, typical of an everyday working scenario. Participants must decide how best to prioritise tasks, and organise time in order to achieve all they need to. Allow 45 minutes for completion.

This exercise is designed to help participants examine their own work–life balance, by looking at the amount of time in their average day that is totally work-free. Allow 45 minutes for completion.

This exercise encourages participants to reassess how they spend their time in a typical working day. It will help to give them a clearer picture of what actually takes up their time. This will take around a day to complete in the workplace, plus time for feedback.

This straightforward individual exercise is designed to enable participants to explore which daily activities they really need to do themselves, and identify the ones that can easily be delegated, to help reduce their stress levels and achieve a better work-life balance. Allow a day for completion, plus time for feedback.
