In simple terms, corporate level strategy is the overarching strategy for an organisation that is made up of more than one business unit. At this level, strategic choices are concerned with the mix of businesses and geographical markets the organisation should compete in (which is why for many organisations, international/global strategy is a major part of corporate level strategy). Decisions are also made at this level as to how individual business units’ strategies can be co-ordinated and integrated into the corporate strategy. This article explores the broad issues of corporate strategic choice.
