Julia Balogun, Professor of Strategy at Cass Business School in London, specialises in the management of strategic change. Her work into cultural processes, and in particular informal communications, during organisational change provides an invaluable insight into how strategy is implemented within organisations. Balogun profiles the case of Utilco, a privatised utility, that underwent major change in the 1990s. Interestingly, it was the informal communications of middle management at Utilco that had a huge bearing on the acceptance of change.
