The Department of Human Services within the Australian Public Service Commission[1] employs around 11,000 staff and is the largest of all the Victorian government departments. After encountering problems with recruitment and retention, the department embarked upon a major overhaul of its recruitment and selection process. This overhaul led to the design and introduction of a best practice recruitment model called ‘Selecting Well’.
