Exercises

A simple diagnostic technique useful for investigating the underlying causes of undesired, single-problem events. Allow 40 minutes for completion.

An exercise designed to get participants applying Pugh’s OD Matrix in practice. It enables change agents to examine what interventions are most appropriate from four levels, ranging from individual to organisational.

A guide to using the exercise, which is most suitable in circumstances where the broad vision and goals of a change project have already been agreed and people are being encouraged to help plan the process. Allow around one hour for completion.

This exercise encourages you to consider the major external drivers of change and to widen your thinking before embarking on a change programme. Allow one hour if using as an individual exercise, and up to a day if adapting for use with a large group considering complex change.
